Canadian suspects: suspicious?

For some reason, the Canadian suspects were in the news recently, wanted for the murder of a Botany professor as well as American tourist and Australian boyfriend. Seems that they are most likely connected to the Dark Web, I'm not sure why though, but I have been having a suspicious feeling about all of it.
